I hope that girl doesn't get fired. unless that's what she was going for.

in high school, my friend zoe worked for the GAP briefly, and told me that each floor worker was linked into a master headphone system that was meant to be motivational. so that, as a worker was folding a pile of beige cardigans, for example, someone would be telling them how well they were doing, or encouraging them to do better, or pitting them against one another in sales contests.

when some customer eventually thanked zoe for something, every headphone set in the store said "zoe just got her first compliment!"

creepy.

rachel - yeah, i do have one or two "wedding-wearing" dresses. i just find that there's always some reason to need a new one - this one's in winter, this one's in summer, this one is super-formal, this one is super-casual, this one is on the beach, this one is at christmas. i don't need that many dresses.

you're right, though, i should try and have just a few staples. it ended up that i had to keep the one from this weekend - the zipper is already broken. or is that a better reason to return it?

also - there were a bunch of black dresses at this last wedding (which was very formal) - i thought this was a no-no? or is that thought out of date?

Wouldn't it save a lot of time to buy one such dress and then wear it to every such wedding for the rest of your life?

I just wear the same dress (which I bought second-hand via plans) to every wedding. But it was colder than expected at the last wedding I attended, so I did buy a Target cardigan/"shrug," which I returned the next morning. It was black, so there were no red wine stains, even.

My favorite dress purchase of all time -
For a semi-formal dance in college, I visited three department stores, tried on five dresses, and purchased one all within a 30 minute time period. Of course, I shamelessly returned it (sweaty) two days later, but I'm still proud of my mad skills on that one.

Also, regarding honest service - last time we went to a bar near my office, we had the most honest waiter - he told us not to buy the blueberry ale cause the lines were beyond foul. However, they do have an unholy redeeming food - FRIED CHEESECAKE. I love food.
